First Night - Level 1's

690 Squadron was a-buzz tonight with a whopping 60 new level 1 Cadets joining us for their first ever Cadet Training night. Ok, Ok, there were a few familiar faces in that crowd, cadets who joined, took time off and are back with us with the goal of obtaining their Pilots licence. We also saw Cadets who have been waiting to join for-EVERRRRR! You have to be a minimum of 12 years old, no exceptions, to join Cadets. We are so happy to welcome all of you into our 690 Family.

Tonight, due to the heatwave, we ordered Sports night - that means everyone comes in civilian clothes, shorts, T-shirts, runners - instead of their Uniforms. Not everyone got the message, man was it HOT in that school tonight! We are so proud of how the new Cadets adapted and took their first steps towards their Cadet Career.

Parents were also excited, and full of questions. Most of our Sponsoring Committee was on hand to happily answer any questions or concerns they may have had. One common question asked was: What about school work? The answer to that is simple, school comes first. Cadets encourages teens to excel in all parts of their life, school, personal, community. For many of the awards and bursaries as well as the Summer Camps they will look at your school marks as well as your Cadet performance and take that into consideration. Luckily, here you have a lot of support to help you.

Anyone still wishing to join our Squadron may still do so. We meet Monday nights at Felix LeClerc school from 6:30pm to 9:15pm for training night, and 6:30pm to 9:00pm on Fridays for optional night. Training night means Cadets are in class learning about so many different aspects of Aviation, Leadership, Positive Social Relations for Youth and so much more.

Optional nights include a variety of options for Cadets to choose from including (but not limited to) Drill Team, Effective Speaking, Model Club, Band, Ground School, Sports.

Our Cadets are second to none!
